Our Teachers

Amanda Bewley  

Amanda Bewley, Science Teacher

Mrs. Bewley teaches high school science at PPOS. She started teaching online in 2016. She has experience teaching in brick and mortar as well as teaching abroad. Amanda earned a BA in Geography and Environmental Science at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. She is currently working on her Master’s in Education at Western State University. She is highly qualified to teach secondary science.

Christian Corrick  

Christian Corrick, Science Teacher

Mrs. Corrick teaches physical science at PPOS. Although this is her first year at PPOS, she has taught for over 8 years. She has a passion for science and love cheesy science jokes. Christian also enjoys sports, hiking, and Broadway musicals. Christian lives in Broomfield with her husband and children.

Nikole Demian


Nikki Demian, Teacher

Mrs. Demian is an electives teacher who has been teaching for the K12 team since 2008. She has taught a variety of courses for us including, health, nutrition, career planning, work experience and computer literacy. Nikki earned her BA in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia, and a MA in Education and Technology from Alliant University. She holds certificates in elementary K-6 and secondary health and math.

Stacey Fennell


Stacey Fennell, Social Studies Teacher

Mrs. Fennell is the social studies lead teacher who joined the K12 team in 2015. She is currently in her 14th year as a social studies teacher. Stacey earned a BA in Social Studies Education and a Master of Instruction from the University of Delaware. She is highly qualified in the field of social sciences and is certified through the state of Colorado.

Kylie Findley

Kylie Findley, Math Interventionist

Mrs. Findley is the Math Interventionist who works closely with students that can use a little extra support in math. She joined the K12 team in 2017 and this is her 6th year teaching high school math. Kylie earned her BS in Mathematics from Southern Utah University. She has loved her teaching career and looks forward to working with your students.
   Patricia Geffre

Patricia Geffre, Teacher

Ms. Geffre is a high school electives teacher. She earned her Bachelors of Science Degree from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD with endorsements in early childhood, elementary and high school business education. In 2003, she earned a Masters of Arts degree from the University of Denver in Denver, CO in Educational Leadership. She began teaching with Pikes Peak Online in January 2019.
Amanda Glover

Amanda Glover, American Literature Teacher

Mrs. Glover is the 11th grade American Literature teacher at Pikes Peak Online School; she joined the K12 team in 2015. Mrs. Glover has been teaching both middle school and high school English since 2011 and brings to the table many years of experience both in the regular brick and mortar classroom as well as in the virtual setting. Amanda earned a BA in English and Secondary Education from Western State Colorado University in 2011 and her MA in K-12 Online Education from Western State Colorado University in 2015.
Kylie Gonzalez

Kylie Gonzalez, Social Studies Teacher

Mrs. Gonzalez is a high school social studies teacher that joined K12 in fall of 2017. She has experience teaching in alternative public schools and is trained in Project-Based Learning. Kylie received her BA in History from the University of Colorado and is currently working on her MS in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governor's University and hopes to pursue her MA in History in the future.
Laura Gregory

Laura Gregory, Social Studies Teacher

Ms. Laura Gregory has taught social studies since PPOS first "opened its doors.” She has 14 years' experience teaching social studies, language arts, and English as a second language. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from University of Houston and is certified to teach social studies, English language arts, and ELL.

Pat Harrod

Pat Harrod, Teacher

Mr. Harrod teaches electives at PPOS and joined the staff in the fall of 2018. After retiring from Jeffco Public Schools from a 23-year career, he was eager to get back to working with students. Pat earned his undergraduate BA in Education form Metro State University of Denver, and has one MA in Creative Arts in Education, and a second MA in Educational Technology.


Nikkia Hunt, English Teacher

Mrs. Hunt started her teaching career in central Nebraska at a very rural school in a town of 300. She taught English, journalism, business, robotics, technology, and programming there for three years as well as sponsoring the FBLA, Quiz Bowl, Newsletter, and Robotics Club. She moved to Colorado in 2017 and have been loving all the amazing adventures here. Nikkia started teaching at PPOS this year, and has really loving connecting with our amazing students.

Dilly Gutierrez

Dilly Gutierrez, Math Teacher

Ms. Gutierrez is an electronics engineer with six years of field experience. She started her journey as a math teacher five years ago, and is currently working toward a master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction. Dilly holds Colorado Education licenses in mathematics and technology education. This her first time teaching in the online setting and am excited to share my experience with her students, helping them reach their goals. Dilly is from Venezuela and lived in Canada for seven years before moving to colorful Colorado.

Paul Lane

Paul Lane, Science Teacher

Mr. Lane is a high school science teacher and teacher ambassador who joined the K12 team in 2010. Prior to K12, Mr. Lane worked as an international educator in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Morocco, Indonesia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Throughout his 43-year teaching career, Mr. Lane has maintained secondary certification in biology and English. Mr. Lane earned his BA in Biology from Western State College of Colorado, and his MA in General Graduate Studies from Iowa State University.

Claire Mahave

Claire Mahave, English Teacher

Claire started teaching a long time ago in a state far away. She has a B.A. in English from Kalamazoo College and an M.S. in Communications from GVSU. She loves to hike and act (usually not at the same time). She also has a great love for well-written dystopian and fantasy lit.

Amy May

Amy May, English Interventionist

Ms. May is the English Interventionist at PPOS. This is her 8th year teaching and her 5th year in the online platform. Amy graduated from Oral Roberts University with a degree in Communications and she is currently in her last semester of graduate school.

Desiree McLean

Desiree McLean, Science Teacher

Mrs. McLean is a high school science teacher who joined K12 in 2018. She previously taught 7th grade science for 5 years. Desiree earned her Bachelor of Science at Mesa State University in Grand Junction. She is now working towards a Master’s in Science.

Angela Mundt

Angela Mundt, Math Teacher

Ms. Angela Mundt is a math and science teacher with over 14 years of experience. She is passionate about helping young people grow and realize their potential. Angela holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado at Denver. During the summer, she works along the Front Range as a wildlife technician for the U.S. Forest Service.

Gloria Murtha

Gloria Murtha, Teacher

Mrs. Murtha is a high school lead electives teacher who joined the K12 team in 2013. Glo has earned a BS in Education with an Academic Specialization in Visual Arts from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M) and a Master’s in Technology in Education from Lesley University. She brings more than 20 years’ experience in education and business. Prior to teaching some of her business experiences included working as a graphic artist, illustrator, and art director. She is a highly qualified teacher certified in K-6 Elementary Education, K-12 Visual Arts, and K-12 Instructional Technology.

Catherine Pane

Catherine Pane, Math Teacher

Mrs. Pane is a high school math teacher who has worked at PPOS since 2015. Prior to working at PPOS, Catherine worked for 7 years at another virtual academy powered by K12 in Colorado. She has 14 years of experience in teaching mathematics. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Hoftstra University and a master's degree in Secondary Math Education from Dowling College in New York.

Rachel Robinson

Rachel Robinson, English Teacher

Ms. Robinson is a Language Arts teacher at Pikes Peak Online School. This is her first year at K12. Before Rachel taught two years of middle school Languages Arts at Aurora Public and Denver Charter schools. Rachel earned her BA in English and Secondary Education from Metropolitan State University of Denver.

When not working, she loves doing things as a family with her two young daughters.

Evan Rutberg

Evan Rutberg, English Teacher

After teaching high school in Brooklyn, NY for the past 10 years, Mr. Rutberg is very excited to be back in Colorado and especially to be a part of PPOS! When he’s not reading books, teaching class, or hanging with his children he loves to be up in the mountains skiing or hiking. Evan believes it is a great privilege and honor to work with young adults as they navigate and plan for their futures. One of Evan’s all-time favorite books is called Close Range by Annie Proulx. The book is a collection of short stories about life in Wyoming and the West in general. He is always happy to talk about books or movies!

Barry Squire

Barry Squire, Math Teacher

Mr. Squire joined the PPOS team in 2016 as a math teacher. He has been teaching math online since 2010 and also teaches business classes. He earned a BA in Natural Science from Hofstra University and a MBA from the University of Florida. In 2017, he earned an MA in Mathematics.


Kandice Trojan, Social Studies Teacher

Mrs. Trojan has been a teacher in Colorado for 20 years. She holds a master’s in Education. Mrs. Trojan lives in northern Colorado with her family and loves to hike, exploring the beautiful mountains in our state.

Greg Terry

Greg Terry, Math Teacher

Mr. Terry is the lead math teacher at Pikes Peak Online School. Greg has been teaching for 12 years with nine of those being in an online setting. Greg earned his BA in Secondary Education and Mathematics concurrently from the University of Wyoming and is currently enrolled in a Master’s program with the University of Colorado Denver and plans to graduate in 2019. Greg holds a certificate in Secondary Mathematics and as a Special Education Generalist.

Emily White

Emily White, English Teacher

Mrs. White is a high school English Language teacher who has worked with students learning English for over seven years. Emily earned a BA in History with an emphasis in Secondary Education and teaching English as a second language.

Luke Ball

Luke Ball, Special Education

Mr. Ball is a special education lead teacher who joined the PPOS team in 2016. He has more than 10 years’ experience in education with an emphasis in math development for students with special needs. Luke earned a BA in Education from Buena Vista University in Iowa. He holds certificates in Special Education and Physical Education.

Josie Brinkhoff

Josie Brinkhoff, Advisor

Ms. Brinkhoff started at K12 in 2016 as the Truancy Officer for K12 schools in Colorado. Josie has transitioned to advisor with Pikes Peak Online School. She holds certificates in early childhood education and was previously a preschool teacher and infant room supervisor.

Jackie Carrier

Jackie Carrier, HS Counselor

Ms. Carrier is from Massachusetts and she loves Boston, New England football, saying “wicked” and eating lobster rolls. She moved to Colorado for the sunshine and mountains. Jackie spend summers camping, dirt biking, and experiencing live music anywhere she can, but her true passion is snowboarding in the winter. Jackie has a new goal to learn watercolor paints. Jackie has a “good boy”, Cozza Frenzy.

Kelley Coleman

Kelley Coleman, Special Education

Ms. Coleman is a High School Special Education Teacher who joined the K12 team in November 2018. Kelley earned her BA in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado. In 2016, she completed her MA in Autism Spectrum Disorders at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.

Lori Cooney

Lori Cooney, Family Academic Support Team Lead

Lori Cooney is the FAST Lead who joined K12 team in 2015. She brings experience to PPOS as a long-time learning coach for three of her children who all graduated from a K12 online school. Lori earned her BS in Education from Buffalo State College and has over 12 years of experience working for K12 schools.

Christan Derryberry

Christan Derryberry, HS Counselor

Ms. Derryberry grew up in Wyoming and graduated high school there as well. She followed her brother to Colorado where she earned my bachelor’s in Psychology and completed master’s in School Counseling from South Western Oklahoma State University. Christan lived in Oklahoma City for 8 years before returning to Colorado. This is 6th year as a school counselor and she believes students deserve the best, so has made it her goal to help them shape their lives.

Stacey Durden

Stacey Durden, Special Education Teacher

Mrs. Durden is a special education teacher who joined Pikes Peak Online School in May of 2018. She brings more than 15 years of K12 experience in education, leadership and development to the team. Stacey has a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Education degree. Stacey holds a Generalist License.
Matt Estrada

Matt Estrada, Counselor

Matt Estrada is a High School Counselor at Pikes Peak Online School, who joined the K12 team in December 2018. Matt earned a BA in Communications & Spanish from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. Matt completed his Masters of Arts in School & Clinical Counseling at Adams State University, in 2008. Matt also holds two professional licenses in the State of Colorado as a school counselor and clinical counselor.

Alanna Everett

Alanna Everett, School Psychologist

Dr. Alanna Everett is a school psychologist with CPA and PPOS who joined K12 in the fall of 2018. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, as well as Ed.S., and Masters in School Psychology. Dr. Everett has worked as a school psychologist since 2005 and is passionate about working with diverse populations.

Christine Floyd

Christine Floyd, 504 Coordinator

Christine Floyd is the 504 Coordinator for Pikes Peak Online School. She has been working in education for 9 years and has been with K12 since February 2016. Christine has a master's in Social Work and is currently working on a master’s in Educational Leadership.

Jillian Francisco

Julianna Francisco, Family Resource Coordinator

Mrs. Francisco is the Family Resource Coordinator. She joined the K12 Team in 2017. Mrs. Francisco earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver. She has numerous years’ experience working with children, youth and families in various social work settings with a wide community resource network.
Trevor Gabriel

Trevor Gabriel, Advisor

Trevor Gabriel is an advisor at PPOS. He has taught elementary school for over 15 years and has high school special education experience. With over 20 years in the education system, his passion is seeing students reach their goals, have fun, and become our next leaders. He went to Niagara University on a swim scholarship helping the school win their first ever in any sport conference championships 3 years in a row. After getting a degree in elementary education and one in social studies in secondary education, he was offered a scholarship to continue his education getting a minor in philosophy and a master’s in education.
Shelby Hrcek

Shelby Hrcek, Special Education

Mrs. Hrcek is a high school special education teacher who joined the K12 team in 2014. She started at Insight School of Washington and recently joined PPOS in Colorado. With 25 years in education, she has a wide variety of experience in non-traditional settings in both public and private institutions. She earned her BS from Texas State University and holds certifications in K-12 Special Education and Family and Consumer Science.
Jennifer Lauderdale

Jennifer Lauderdale, Truancy Officer

Mrs. Lauderdale is the Truancy Officer at Colorado Preparatory Academy and Pikes Pike Online School. Jennifer received her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Sociology from California State University, Bakersfield. After moving to Colorado in 2008, she worked for six years for the 18th Judicial District Juvenile Assessment Center where she had the privilege of working with children and their families throughout Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln counties here in Colorado. As a Learning Coach for the past five years, Jennifer has come to love online education and all its benefits and wishes to share my experience and knowledge with the CPA and PPOS communities.

Sara McCaman

Sara McCaman, Advisor

Ms. McCaman is an advisor and the Blended Learning Coordinator. She has been with PPOS since 2016. In addition to her time at PPOS, Sara has taught secondary social studies for 18 years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies/Education and a Master’s Degree in Education. Her focus is on the importance of building relationships among staff, students and parents so that her students can succeed.

Rachel Meyer Ph.D.

Rachel Meyer Ph.D., School Psychologist

Dr. Rachel H. Meyer is a school psychologist with CPA and PPOS who joined K12 in the fall 2017. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Special Education from Temple University, a MA in Community Counseling from John Carroll University and a BA in Psychology from the University of Denver. Prior to joining K12 she was a school psychologist and founding member of DSST-Cole High School in Denver. She also has years of experience working and teaching in higher education and running disability offices.

Jeremy Ryan

Jeremy Ryan, Special Education Teacher

Reigning from Longmont, Jeremy attended the University of Colorado in Boulder where he received his BS in Editorial-News Journalism, before he and his wife moved to Southern California. While in SoCal, Jeremy worked in clinical, home and classroom settings with k-12 students with severe autism before transitioning into ministry as a youth and family pastor. During this time, Jeremy received his master’s in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and he and his wife had their first son.


Mike Schmidt, Drop Out Prevention / Concurrent Enrollment Counselor

Mr. Schmidt has been a high school / middle school counselor for over17 years, he joined the PPOS K12 team in the Spring of 2019 after15 years as a counselor in Jefferson County Public Schools. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from University of Colorado Boulder in 2001 and a Master's degree in Educational Guidance Counseling from University of Phoenix in 2003. He holds a Special Services Provider License: School Counselor from the State of Colorado and has close to two decades of experience working with students in a variety of settings. As the dropout prevention counselor and concurrent enrollment coordinator, he takes pride in helping students realize their potential and works to ensure every student is supported and feels connected to PPOS.


Sarah Sisneros, ELL Coordinator

Ms. Sisneros is the ELL Coordinator who joined the K12 team in 2016. She has a spent her 12 years in education in a collection of diverse schools. Sarah earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English as a Second Language from the University of Northern Colorado in 2007. In 2010, she earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership with a Principal's License from Regis University.

Kitty Smith

Kitty Smith, Advisor

Mrs. Smith has been an advisor with K12 since 2017. As a former English teacher, she enjoys journeying with high school students. She holds a BSE in English from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and was a home school teacher to her own children during their high school years.

Travis Townsend

Travis Townsend, Advisor

Mr. Townsend is a high school advisor at Pikes Peak Online School. Travis joined the K12 team in 2018. He earned his BA in History from Colorado State University in 2013. He has tutored, coached, and completed additional courses in education.


Lana Turnball, Special Programs Administrator

Lana Turnbull started working with the K12 team in 2006 in the Special Education department. She is the “go to” person for special education related services for students. Ms. Turnbull also completes administrative work for special education, assisting with special ed enrollment and acts as the liaison for providers or therapists for our students. Lana loves the satisfaction of helping our students obtain the tools they need to be successful!

Jennie Wheless

Jennie Wheless, Family Resource Coordinator

Jennie Wheless is a social worker who recently joined K12 as a Family Resource Coordinator. She holds her Bachelor of Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver and is currently a Master of Social Work candidate at MSU Denver with a dual focus on mental health and macro policy. Jennie is also an AmeriCorps alumnus and a former National Association of Social Workers Healthcare Education and Leadership Scholar. She loves working for K12 and is excited to be a part of such an exciting new technological landscape while also providing support to students and families.
